The study examines how far restructuring has involved change in leadership style and the development of HR philosophies and approaches which derive from the Anglo-American model of people management. In Romania during transitional times the management role is being re-defined and management culture is changing. at the same time the legacy of the past remains strong. This article examines the balance of influences.
