Abstract
The BBC must foreground the mediation of interactive content, and consider what must continue to be done by human agency to avoid the 'automation' of the relationship with audiences. It is clear a technologically determinist position has been taken, particularly in new media, and this is at odds with the sociable media theories of the Broadcast Talk group and with person perception theory.
