Abstract
This work discusses research directions towards developing adequate access control mechanisms in pervasive healthcare software applications. We should be working towards a generic AUThorisation Engine (AUTE), which must take into account the main features and characteristics of pervasive systems and the role of access control in pervasive environments generally.
