Abstract

Through the survey of the link-up program in the diapora media, the paper highlight the process of the creative engagement of the diaspora culture consumer in the cultural negotiation and transformation. The dispora media rely on the technology of time/space distanciating,so the dispora can have the synchronicity and co-existence without simultaneous spatial co-presence.The diaspora and the media imagine and construct the relevant transnational linkages and to produce the appropriate discourses and repertoires of collective action that is constitutive of diaspora. It follows that if this self-awareness and the processes of self-imagination as a diaspora are to be instituted, and sustained over time, they require the existence of diasporic institutions, which have the capacity to construct and sustain a diasporic space of imagination, communication and exchange,a space where definitions of the diaspora can be elaborated and reproduced.
