Abstract
This paper proposes a method that deploys nonuniform sampling and spectral analysis to perform reliable spectrum sensing using sampling rates well below the ones demanded by uniform-sampling-based DSP. It utilizes the Random Sampling on Grid (TRSG) scheme. The statistical characteristics of the endorsed periodogram-type estimator are presented for a finite set of noisy signal samples. Reliability guidelines that ensure the credibility of the detection procedure amid a sought system performance are derived. Unlike a number of previously reported nonuniform sampling schemes e.g. total random sampling, the employed TRSG provides safeguards making it more suitable for implementation in hardware.
