Abstract

This paper describes a real-time high-speed traffic simulator which was built within the HIPERTRANS project and demonstrated using two proprietary urban traffic control (UTC) systems to which it has been interfaced. The paper describes the interface which allows the interactions between the simulator and the UTCs. Issues addressed include the monitoring and control of the traffic sensors and the control actions that are dependent on the data values received from the sensors.
